Tiger returns to his jungle

Earlier this week Tiger Woods made a solid return to professional golf after an 8 month hiatus. Let's not forget the extraordinary performance Woods put on last summer at the 2008 U.S. Open, mowing down the competition and defeating Rocco Mediate in a playoff.

It was a busy 8 months for Tiger, rehabilitating his surgically repaired knee along with the birth of his second child, Charlie. Earlier this week Woods was defeated by Tim Clark in the WGC-Accenture Match Play tournament in Arizona. Tim Clark is currently ranked 33rd in the world.

I saw this commercial on TV a little while ago. It's another brilliant ad from the talented folks at Nike, and features some popular but lesser known golfers (Anthony Kim, Stuart Cink, Trevor Immelman, Justin Leonard) actually winning tournaments and enjoying life with Tiger Woods out of the game for a bit.

The celebration and music end when Tiger walks back into the locker room and all the other players realize it's back to business as usual...time for more Tiger domination. Now, I know that this was a hypothetical situation, but I can't help but wonder if the players on the tour can foresee what's about to happen now that the Tiger is healthy and back on the prowl...

Dr. Dre making a comeback!!

Ok, so by now we all know that Dr. Dre drops an album right around presidential election time (one term if you're lucky..)and not a moment sooner. Chronic 2001 came shortly before the outset of the W. Bush administration...The first Chronic came out December 1992...shortly after Clinton was elected.

Now that Obama is office, can we expect more heat from Dr. Dre????

The streets have been patiently waiting for "Detox" for some time, and the project has seemingly been getting pushed back for years now.

Not sure if you have heard this new ish...but Dre is back in a major way. "Topless," Dre's newest track features T.I. and NaS doing what they do over another banger from Dre. TAKE A LISTEN & ENJOY!

Swag Award of the Week Feb 23-Feb 28

Every week I will be awarding what I call the "Swag Award of the Week." This award be awarded every weekend and will go to the individual who displays the most "swag" throughout the week. Swag is a loosely used term, and everyone has their own interpretation. Old Spice says swagger is 'the scent that makes the difference.' I think we can all agree that overall not giving a f!@k; disregard for what people think about what you're doing, gusto, cajones, balls, and confidence are all prerequisites of "swag."

With that said, I am proud to announce that the "Swag Award of the Week" goes to none other than MANNY RAMIREZ.

It was announced yesterday, that Manny rejected yet another offer by the LA Dodgers to keep him on the team for at least one more season if not two. The latest offer would have put $25 million in Manny's pocket this season and an option for $20 million next season. Manny and his agent Scott Boras (also the agent for A-Roid, Carlos Beltran, Daisuke Matsuzaka, & Mark Texeira) kindly said no thank you for the fourth time since November.

For the baseball fans out there, you'll remember that the Dodgers acquired Manny from Boston at the July 31st trade deadline. Manny went to LA and DID WORK, hitting .396 with 17 long balls, 53 RBI in 53 games. PS..The Dodgers won the NL West title largely due to Manny's bat.

Considering that the Dow Jones average has gone down 21% since November and average Americans are sinking like the Titanic, for this man to still be turning his back on nearly $50 mil in this economy in my mind is the epitome of "swag." The Dodgers have made 4 offers (no other team has made one offer) to this man in the last 4 months, and he still isn't happy.

I guess he knows something we don't. Good luck Manny. Enjoy your award.

Allow me to re-introduce myself..

Greetings world,

After years of back and forth and debating, I finally decided to make that move and step into the realm of blogging.  For those of you who know me, you know my credentials.  For those of you who don't, my name is Bryan. I was born in Atlanta, went to college at Syracuse, got a degree in journalism and am now residing & working in New York City...trying to make a name for myself and a difference in this world.  I tell people that Atlanta made me the man that I am, and New York will eventually make me rich...The latter part remains to be seen; wish me luck.

This blog will serve as my space to comment on a host of topics that I find appropriate; sports, politics, women, cars, pop culture, etc etc. Please send this link to your friends, check back on a regular basis for new content, and most importantly...leave constructive comments. A blog is only as strong as the people who read it, so work with me to make this thing something that we all enjoy.

Thanks again for your time and interest. Looking forward to hearing from all of you. Be well until then.
